The following list is compiled from reports from area law enforcement agencies: Owensboro Police Department Donald Adams, 60, of the 3600 block of Chambers Street was charged Friday with second-degree criminal abuse (child age 12 or under). Emily B. Johnson, 37, of the 2100 block of Dickey Drive was charged Thursday with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000.

L. Jones, 23, of Tell City was charged Thursday with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (meth). Patrick A. Johnson, 57, of the 100 block of Ewing Road was charged Thursday with second-degree burglary. A Lincoln Zephyr worth $29,000 was reported stolen Thursday from the 700 block of Plum Street.

A cash drawer containing $60 was reported stolen Thursday in a burglary at 54 Pizza Express, 1700 Starlite Drive. Daviess County Department A vacuum cleaner, air fryer, sleeping bags, books and other items were reported stolen Thursday from a storage unit in the 900 block of Reid Road. George Best George Best, 97, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, Mar. 9, 2023, at his home while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born Dec.

24, 1925, in Daviess County to the late Walter and Katherine Adelman Best. Bud served in the United States Army as a Corporal during World War II in the South Pacific. He was the owner and operator of Owensboro Linoleum and Tile for 42 years here in Owensboro until his retirement in 1987. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Bridge, pitching washers, and working on his farm. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by four of his sisters, Lena Lovan, Miriam Rouse, Dorothy Berry, and Helen Leib, and two of his brothers, Ed and Mick Best.

Bud is survived by his wife of 72 years, Evelyn Whobrey Best; his two daughters, Kathy (Dwight) Austin of Bowling Green and Kim (Steve) Swift of Owensboro; a son, Mike (Janet) Best of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren, Katie Lea Cassetty, Leslie (Brad) Decker, Miles Austin, Sam (Sarah) Swift, Chris (Lauren) Swift, Annie (Jon) Drury, Ethan Best, Mason Best, and Gavin Best; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Ann Griffin; and brothers, Richard Best and Jerry Best. The funeral service for Bud will be held at noon Monday, Mar. 13, 2023, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with Rev. Dave Baldridge officiating. Burial to follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Jonathan Russell Payne Jonathan Russell Payne, 41, of Owensboro, passed away at home Friday, Mar. 10, 2023, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born June 25, 1981, in Owensboro to Judy Wathen Payne and Russell Payne. Jonathan achieved a technical degree and was an industrial electrician. He was a member of St.

Pius Catholic Church. Jonathan was a loving son, father, and brother who loved the outdoors and his truck, and was a gun enthusiast. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends. Left to cherish memory are his partner, Althea Roberts; his parents, Judy and Russell; his sons, Jaxson and Grayson Payne; his brother, Matthew (Kara) Payne; his niece, Marley Payne; and nephew, Bowen Payne. The funeral service will be 10 a.m.

She was born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 6, 1927, to the late Charlie and Blanche (Rector) Miller. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Stevens; her sisters, Mary Embrey and Katherine Helton; and her brothers, Thalbert and Shirley Miller. She is survived by her children, Sandra Watson, Robbie Timmons, Mike Stevens, and Mary Stevens; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is loved by all who know her and will be deeply missed.

Wethington Mar. 3 Session Final Sentencing James Dwight Archie, 47, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The sentences for these charges will run concurrently for a total sentence of one year in the penitentiary which has been probated for two years. Christopher J.

Edge, 36, of the 10000 block of State Road 764, Whitesville, pleaded guilty to license to be in possession and speeding 10 MPH over the speed limit. The charge of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, methamphetamine is dismissed. The sentences for these charges will run concurrently for a total of 90 days in county jail. He was given credit for already serving two days and the balance of his sentence is suspended for a period of one year. Mar.

8 Session Final Sentencing Christopher Michael Evans, 51, pleaded guilty to the amended charge of assault in the second degree, wanton endangerment in the first degree, wanton endangerment in the first degree, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, first offense, aggravating circ*mstances, license to be in possession, and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. The sentences for these charges will run concurrently for a total of six years in the penitentiary. Diversion Michael Lance Magan, 53, pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking of a controlled substance valued at less than $10,00 and received a sentence of one year in the penitentiary. This sentence will be diverted for a period of one year. Mar.

9 Session Final Sentencing Perry Willingham, 34, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication. The sentences for these charges will run concurrently for a total sentence of one year in the penitentiary. Jerry Daniel Hallam, 35, pleaded guilty to theft of identity of another without consent and received a sentence of one year in the penitentiary. In another case, he also pleaded guilty to unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, and terroristic threatening in the third degree. The sentences for these charges will run concurrently for a total of one year in the penitentiary, but consecutively with the sentence in the previous case for a total sentence of two years in the penitentiary.

II Judge Lisa Payne Jones Mar. 2 Session Final Sentencing Timothy Marquez Dean, 35, pleaded guilty to the amended charge of two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, less than two grams of meth, trafficking in marijuana, less than eight ounces, first offense, two counts possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, meth, possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, prescription controlled substance not in proper container, first offense, possession of marijuana, and criminal trespassing in the third degree. He was given a total sentence of two years across all of the charges which has been probated for three years.
