Our 2023-2024 winter break will run from Monday, December 25, 2023, through Tuesday, January 2, 2024. December 25, 26, 2023 and January 1, 2, 2024 are paid university holidays (if eligibility is met). December 27, 28, 29, 2023 are the three (3) designated curtailment days.
Abdullah Salehuddin is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Communication and also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC).
Although there are four possible dates of graduation each year (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall), commencement ceremonies are held only once a year in June.

Parents & Family Weekend is held annually during fall quarter and provides a chance for families to explore UCSB and learn more about what life is like for their students.
The Schedule of Classes is published on-line by the Registrar's Office and includes a list of all courses to be offered at UCSB during each quarter of the academic year. Students can reference the UCSB General Catalog for descriptions of the courses they might want to enroll in during a particular quarter.
Undergraduate students are not required to attend continuously. They may be absent from UCSB for one or more quarters without petition. Prior to returning to UCSB, students must submit a Request for Undergraduate Readmission or Reinstatement (refer to forms for petition)well in advance of the quarter of return.
The Ceremony is held during June on the Commencement Green (map). Tickets are not required with seats available on a first-come basis. Guests are not allowed inside the Event Center where the student line-up takes place.
- Students need at least a 180 units to graduate, and at least 60 of those units need to be upper division (from courses listed 100-199). - Make sure to declare candidacy on GOLD for the quarter in which you will complete all degree requirements. - Sign up for Commencement ceremonies begins late February.
