Air Fryer Honey& Mustard Pork Meatballs

I call my Air Fryer honey and mustard pork meatballs, my favourite of all themeatball recipes I have ever created here on RecipeThis.com.

That is because they are a fridgeraid air fryer meatballs recipe. Where I have taken what food I have leftoverin the fridge and made something delicious on a whim.

I do this all the time with mealsand when Dominic tells us we have nothing in and we need to go shopping, I pointout something weird and wacky that we can make with leftovers.

This is EXACTLYwhat I wrote back in December of 2015 as I made these honey and mustard porkmeatballs for the first time:

I love to experiment with minceand this recipe was the result of having some leftover pork mince in the fridgeand fancying something quick to eat when I was in a rush. I never reallythought over the ingredients, I just felt like they tasted delicious andquickly jotted down what I had included so that one day I could share it on myblog.

Well it turns out that this coldday at the beginning of December has become that day. I am also planning onhaving some for brunch today instead of just eating the kid’s advent calendars.

If that is YOU and you want to make air fryer meatballs from leftovers, then grab your favourite mince (called Ground if you are American), add to it your favourite seasoning, make them into cute meatballs and cook them in the air fryer.

Even better serve them with our Instant Pot Garlic Spaghetti and you have an amazing dinner for your family.

Air Fryer Homemade Pork Meatballs

The bestmeat for making meatballs with for me is minced pork, or as the Americans callit Ground Pork.

This isbecause pork is a fatty meat and is easier to make meatballs with and by usingground pork, you don’t need to use egg to make the pork meatballs.

Simplythrow in your ingredients, add some type of flour to bind them together andthen make them into your meatball shapes.

It reallyis as simple as that.

I recommend Butcher Box for your ground pork and they have plenty of other ground meats to choose from to, depending on what meat you want to put into your meatballs.

You can sign up for them with this link and they always have a good deal for when you first sign up with some good freebies.

Pork MeatballsMade In The Air Fryer

I love how fast you can cook pork meatballs in the air fryer. It is a no fuss way of cooking meatballs and they have a wonderful crispy skin and keep their shape so well too.

You can also cook your pork meatballs directly in the air fryer basket, without having to use any other air fryer accessories. Remember the first time I made these for the blog was back in 2015, before I had any good air fryer accessories.

Air Fryer Meatballs Low Carb

I have made no secret of it and the fact that I follow thePaleo diet most of the time. That means that a lot of my recipes are low carb.Just like the fact that my air fryer meatballs are low carb.

In these air fryer meatballs, there is no breadcrumbs and no breading involved. Instead as a binding agent I have used my favourite Bob’s Red Mill Oat Flour.

But a good plan B, is to use a mix of pork mince and beef orveal mince. This will make them less fatty and they will bind together withoutthe need of any flour or breadcrumbs.

Can You Air FryMeatballs?

Absolutely! I have cooked my meatballs in the air fryer fora long, long time now. In fact, I couldn’t imagine cooking them any other waynow.

The air fryer is fantastic for crisping up the outside andmaking sure that they are well cooked in the middle.

You don’t have to worry about your pork meatballs being dryin the air fryer as this will never happen.

Air Fryer MeatballsTemperature?

For cooking my airfryer meatballs, I cook them at a temperature of 180c/360f. This ensuresthat they are cooked in the middle but have a nice outside crunch. It alsostops them from being over cooked too.

After all, there is nothing worse than burnt, dry meatballs.

Instructions

  • Peel and thinly dice the red onion.

  • Place all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix well until the pork mince is well seasoned.

  • Using a meatball press create your meatballs. If needed add some oat flour to combine them together.

  • Place the pork meatballs into the air fryer and cook for 10 minutes at 180c/360f.

  • Serve while still warm.

Notes

My pork meatballs used this meatball press. They are a small to medium size, so add a couple more minutes if you have large meatballs.

We used this brand of honey, it is not overly sweet and perfect for cooking with.

The oat flour we recommend is Bob’s Red Mill and it is gluten free and perfect if you follow the Paleo or other similar diets.

The honey is what gives the skin of the meatballs such a fantastic crunchy glow. We recommend that if you don’t like honey that you use something similar like maple syrup.
